Book summary: What if Merlin of legend was a twin and a girl? That’s the premise of this story. The book follows the adventures of a funny and bright Emry Merlin as she grows into her magic while also keeping a lot of big secrets and uncovering even bigger ones.

The Other Merlin is the second book I read in October, and it was quite the adventure. I have always been very captivated by stories of King Arthur, Merlin, and Ancient Magic. So, when I saw this book at the bookstore, I was instantly intrigued.
What I like about this book is how it uses what we know about the Arthurian legend and twists those classic plots just enough to give us a completely new story. A new story without forsaking what makes the old stories so great. We still get the noble and brave Arthur, the powerful Merlin, and even the loyal and tough Lancelot.
The story begins by introducing us to Emry Merlin, the unknown daughter of The Great Merlin, who has disappeared. Without any magic, Arthur’s father has send for Merlin’s son. Antics ensue and Emry takes her brother’s place and finds herself at the castle learning magic, befriending Arthur, and realizing how powerful she actually is.
I could honestly talk about this book for hours, but first, I ask that you read it too so we can talk about it together!
